Say “Cheese” – Altogether now!

When we received our official 5-star licence and wall plaque yesterday, it was a bit too late to take a group picture with our associates, so we did it this morning instead.

There are more of us than you can see on the photo, of course, but we’re a hotel after all and a hotel never sleeps, so some of our colleagues were inside the building to keep things running.

Once the official photos were taken, Wajira, one of our Maintenance Engineers, set to work to get the plaque fixed on the wall outside the hotel entrance:

It’s official!

All our hard work finally paid off today when we received our official 5-star classification licence from the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), our local licensing authority.
This is another big step forward for us in our soft-opening process and will allow us to move on with a large number of things which were dependant on the official licence certificate.

Gus Takkale at the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers!

Gus Takkale, the well-known  author and active speaker of personal change, self-development, corporate culture, and talent management graced us with a visit today and kindly agreed to run two training workshops for our associates.

The workshops under the motto “Make it Happen!” were fast paced, fun-filled, very motivational and were based on Gus’ “Energise & Engage” program.

Gus took the participating associates through the corporate culture standards of our company and then a through journey of personal fulfilment (based on his book 5C’s in Change).
The program was delivered using powerful techniques and newly emerging insights which inspired and channelled our associates to new levels of achievement.

The workshops also came at just the right time – our General Manager, Mr. Alan Bostock, returned in time for the closing ceremony with our official DTCM 5-star hotel licence in hand!

JLTimes No. 2 – Out now! We’re on page 7…

The second issue of “JLTimes”, the community magazine for Jumeirah Lakes Towers has just been released and will be able to download a copy from the jlt.ae website soon.

Here’s a summary of the most interesting things planned for Jumeirah Lakes Towers in the near future:

• Introduction of metro feeder busses serving the Jumeirah lakes Towers community as soon as Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers metro stations open. There will be 8 bus stops in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and busses will run in 10-minute intervals from early morning until late at night.
• Landscaping work is in full swing and the lakesides near cluster S have already been substantially completed.
• Building work for the first of six children’s play parks in Jumeirah Lakes Towers will start shortly. The parks will be spread throughout the entire JLT area and should all be completed by the end of the second quarter 2010.

Our 7th TripAdvisor review has just landed in our inbox – many, many thanks to “HanifUK” – we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay with us!

“HanifUK” is right, once the two metro stations serving Jumeirah Lakes Towers are open (Marina station and Jumeirah Lakes Towers station), walking to Dubai Marina and JBR will be a doddle – at least during the cooler months anyway. For the summer months, there is always the RTA feeder-bus that serves Jumeirah Lakes Towers, the nearest metro stations and Dubai Marina. It looks like a bus stop will be right outside our door.

If you’re staying in one of our apartments and can’t be asked to take a taxi or walk to the nearest supermarket to pick up some groceries, you may want to use our grocery delivery service or, of course, you’ll soon be able to just take the lift down to have a bite to eat in the Cavendish Restaurant or to enjoy a pint in Healey’s Bar.

The Authors’ Lounge is already open daily and the Cavendish currently serves breakfast every morning, with lunch and dinner service starting soon.
Healey’s Bar & Terrace are being deep-cleaned and polished as we speak and will open very soon indeed – watch this space!
Our Pool Bar on the Leisure Deck is already a popular meeting place for guests and residents and just yesterday we hosted the first evening reception there.

Having a bad hair day? Just visit the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers and, from 1st November 2009, we’ll be able to take care of it in style!

Le Michel Salon will open on our Leisure Deck on November 1st and will provide our guests and visitors with a variety of hairdressing and beauty salon services.

While surfing the Internet, we just came across our first guest review on eBookers. Granted, we only got 4 out of 5 and the guests marked us as a four-star property, whereas we are clearly advertised as five-star on eBookers, but hey… The guests thought their stay was “lovely” and that’s all that counts in the end…

Ramp it up and now finally down, too!

By now, most people know that the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers is located in the heart of JLT, right next to the Almas Tower. Granted, Dubai taxi drivers often still have difficulties finding us, but more and more guests arriving at the hotel by taxi also means more and more taxi drivers being aware of who and where we are.

Jumeirah Lakes Towers is waking up and most towers around us are now completed and the landscaping of the areas around our tower should start soon.

Finally, we are also seeing progress in regards to the completion of our parking access. Today, the all important down-ramp into our underground parking from outside the residence entrance opened, so now guests & visitors no longer need to make a u-turn once they have arrived outside the hotel and want to park their cars in the underground parking:

Now we’re only waiting for completion of the outside parking area next to the podium in front of the tower and, of course, the allocation of our permanent parking spaces by the local authority.
