Eid’s just around the corner! See what’s on in Dubai for Eid!

We’re in the final stretch of Ramadan 2011 and our thoughts are slowly starting to turn to the upcoming Eid celebrations.

This year, Eid in Dubai is even bigger than last year and numerous events vie for your attention.

Thanks to all guests and visitors who joined us for Earth Hour 2011 at the Bonnington!

We hope you enjoyed your dinner by candlelight and also had a chance to sample some of the flaming cocktails in Healey’s.

According to DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority), this year’s Earth Hour celebrations in Dubai saved an amazing 204,000 kW/h and 122,000 kg carbon emission. Read more about it here.

We’re not just environmentally friendly during Earth Hour, mind! Apart from the solar panels on our roof, which heat most of the Hotel’s water, we are also currently in the process of implementing a large-scale recycling program for all areas of the property.

Earth Hour 2011 in Dubai!

As every year, the Bonnington is proud to support Earth Hour in Dubai! We’ve put together some special Earth Hour 2011 deals for our Cavendish Restaurant and Healey’s Bar & Terrace!

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour.

In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Dubai was the first Arab city to embrace Earth Hour and, in 2008, joined 24 other major cities who were committing to this event.

The Bonnington has been participating in Earth Hour since 2009 and for this year’s event, we will be offering some very special “Earth Hour” deals:

Dine by candlelight in our Cavendish Restaurant and receive a free dessert and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine if you order a starter and a main course.

Healey’s Bar & Terrace will be serving FLAMING COCKTAILS on Saturday evening. Take your pick from five flaming cocktails for only AED 45 per cocktail.

On Saturday 26th, we will be switching off most of the outside lights on our building and we will also be reducing lights inside the building, wherever possible, between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.

Pre-opening reloaded…

It’s been a while since we had the pleasure to write about our pre-opening and grand opening operations.
In fact, it’s been such a long time, we thought we’d do it all again, albeit on a much smaller scale and in gingerbread…

Out now: 2010 UAE tourist guide for your phone!

The Bonnington is delighted to bring travellers a downloadable tourist guide to the United Arab Emirates for their mobile phones.

The guide includes a wealth of information about visiting the UAE, e.g. travel advise, tourist information, useful telephone numbers, etc.

The guide will work on most modern mobile phones, and you can download it by clicking here. This will download a zipped folder to your computer which, once expanded, contains two files. Use the software that came with your mobile phone to transfer both files to your phone and complete the installation from your mobile phone’s browser.

A couple of days ago, our original coat of arms arrived in Dubai and, yesterday, we put it up in the hotel lobby. Coincidentally, a little over a year ago, our very first blog post also dealt with our coat of arms. Check it out here.

That also means we’ve been blogging away for over a year now, so here’s a big Thank You to all our readers who have kept us going for an entire year!

In other news, we will shortly be launching our Bon Appetit Card – a loyalty and discount card for all our restaurants and bars. The card is so cool, it even has its own page on this blog, which you can find here.
