Earth Hour 2010 – We’re part of it again!
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour.
In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness. Dubai was the first Arab city to embrace Earth Hour and, in 2008, joined 24 other major cities who were committing to this event.
In 2009, Earth Hour was taken to the next level, with 1 billion people switching off their lights.2009 was also the first time the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers participated in Earth Hour, when we organised a pizza party in the dark for all our associates in the hotel. Check it out here.
On Saturday 27th, we will be switching off most of the outside lights on our building and we will also be reducing lights inside the building, wherever possible.
Saturday, March 27, 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. – http://www.earthhour.org
