Have you been to Healey’s lately? Say hello to Kerrie-Anne!
Have you been to our Healey’s Bar & Terrace recently? If so, you might have met our new resident artist, Kerrie-Anne.
Kerrie-Anne is a uniquely talented artist who takes great care in presenting you with profound, original captivating songs to hook you from the first note. Kerrie-Anne’s writing talent is accompanied by an “impressive voice” (Rolling Stone, 2011) of a 4 octave range with a specialism in soul, RnB, jazz and funk vocal style.
Like many singers across genres Kerrie-Anne began singing in church. At 5 years old she was singing for an audience of up to 1500 and from these events she grew in confidence and vocal maturity ensued. In the following years she toured the UK performing at various venues for a variety of charitable and festive occasions. At the tender age of 15 she wrote and arranged a song entitled ‘You Need To Go On’ which she entered into the the national ‘Premier Christian Radio Song Search 2002’, which aimed to recognize songwriting talent.
She enlisted the help of Sam West Productions (London) to produce the track. After many weeks of her song being aired, and continuously voted for by the public as ‘best song’ Kerrie-Anne was invited to perform her song as a finalist at Westminster Abbey in London. Despite being the youngest contestant in the competition she was voted as the most developed lyrics and sound, which supported her to win the competition.
Between 2006 -2008 Kerrie-Anne joined the Ican Foundation Choir. During this time she performed at numerous high profile events for national and international dignitaries including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Home Secretary David Blunkett and Bishop Desmond Tutu, to name a few. In 2007, in honor of South African Independence Day she performed for Nelson Mandela at the South African High Commission in London.
In 2010 Kerrie-Anne relocated to Dubai to pursue a career in international teaching. Upon this move she met and worked with one of Dubai’s esteemed house DJs, Frederick Stone. Together they worked on several commercial and soulful house tracks, which they anticipate to pitch to a number of house music production companies in Europe.
You can listen to Kerrie-Anne every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.15 p.m. – midnight in Healey’s, plus she’s also performing in our Cavendish during Friday Brunch.
