October & November Upgrades: New carpets and a new bar in JLT!

This October and November, we’ve been busy upgrading various aspects of our hotel. Firstly, there’s a new bar in JLT or, rather, on our Healey’s Terrace, just outside the kitchen. Here’s what it looked like when it arrived:

A new bar in JLT

Yes, it’s almost like Ikea – self-assembly required. No flatpacks, though! Once unpacked and assembled, it started to look a bit more like a bar:

In the meantime, we’ve put some final touches and decorations on the new bar and the official unveiling is tonight, when Healey’s Terrace reopens for the autumn and winter season. Check our Facebook or Google+ pages for pictures of the bar in action.

Inside the hotel, we’re in the process of replacing the carpets in our hotel rooms and corridors. The work is proceeding slowly, but steadily – we don’t want inconvenience our guests, so everything is carefully scheduled to avoid disruptions.

There’s still a pile of carpets in our basement area waiting to be taken up to the floors:

The carpet rolls are cut to size in the basement and then transported upstairs:

While the new carpets are prepared, the old ones are removed:

Eventually, the new carpets are put in place and stretched:

The end results, we think, are great:

As with every good make-over, we obviously prepared a “Before and After” picture. Here it is:
