We’ve been part of Dubai’s Jumeirah Lakes Towers neighbourhood almost since it started and we’ve seen it grow from a lot of sand to what it is today: One of the most attractive neighbourhoods with the world’s top freezone in the middle.

Recently, and just as a further sign of the progress JLT has made over the past few years, we were pleased to see that JLT now has its own restaurant awards scheme, which lets local residents, office workers, and visitors vote for their favourite restaurant in JLT across multiple categories. Of course, we entered our restaurants and bars and now we’re looking for your support to help us win. Today, our chef and his team unveiled the new Healey’s Bar and Terrace menu. The entire menu has been refreshed and we added many new and tasty options.

There’s something for everybody! We’ve kept our popular tapas section and the sliders, but we’ve also added more substantial options. Pop into Healey’s from 4 p.m. any day and have a look!

Eid Wishes from the Bonnington!

Ramadan Preparations in Dubai

Muslims in Dubai and around the world are preparing for Ramadan, which is scheduled to start around 6th June this year. We’re also getting ready – our iftar menus have been printed and we’re planning this year’s Ramadan decorations.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of fasting for Muslims. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam; the others are confession of faith, five daily prayers, Zakah (almsgiving) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah).

The day of fasting begins with an early morning meal before dawn and ends at sunset. The evening activities include the traditional breaking of the fast usually with dates and water, the sunset prayer followed by dinner (IFTAR). Muslims then usually go to the mosque for congregational prayers in which at least one-thirtieth of the Qur’an is recited. The congregation would have listened to the recitation of the complete Qur’an by the end of the month.

Emarati hospitality and traditions are also very evident during this month as Iftars are hosted across Dubai and residents of different nationalities come together to share the spirit of Ramadan.
