We’ve been part of Dubai’s Jumeirah Lakes Towers neighbourhood almost since it started and we’ve seen it grow from a lot of sand to what it is today: One of the most attractive neighbourhoods with the world’s top freezone in the middle.
Recently, and just as a further sign of the progress JLT has made over the past few years, we were pleased to see that JLT now has its own restaurant awards scheme, which lets local residents, office workers, and visitors vote for their favourite restaurant in JLT across multiple categories. Of course, we entered our restaurants and bars and now we’re looking for your support to help us win. Paddy’s Day 2017 at the Bonnington? It’s a wrap!
… and it’s a wrap! Another Paddy’s Day weekend at the Bonnington has been and gone. This year, we had old favourites, like our Irish dancers in the lobby, but also exciting new events, like the biggest Irish party Dubai has ever seen, which was organized by our friends from McGettigan’s and which took place in Media City.
Of course, we’ve had the Irish flag up again on our tower, too:
The day itself sped past like a whirlwind with events taking place in the hotel, in McGettigan’s JLT, and in Media City. Although it was very busy, we had time to pop across the road and party a little, too:

Irish indie rock band, Little Green Cars, is coming to Dubai and playing live at our McGettigan’s JLT & The Baggot on Friday 26th August.

Formed in Dublin in 2008, the five-piece band consists of members Stevie Appleby on guitar and vocals, Faye O’Rourke on vocals, Adam O’Regan on guitar, Donagh Seaver O’Leary on bass and Dylan Lynch on drums. Since signing with Glassnote Music, the band has toured America and the UK extensively. The US portion of the 2013 tour included a live performance of their single, Harper Lee, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The band has also played at festivals such as Coachella in California, Lollapalooza in Chicago and are known for hits such as ‘Easier Day’ and ‘The Song They Play Every Night’.

Italian Dinners, Irish Celebrations, and Hometown. There’s a mega weekend ahead & it starts now!

After eating great Italian food, let’s celebrate with the Irish! This Thursday will see Dubai’s biggest and best St. Patrick’s Day event kick off at our McGettigan’s JLT. You can find out all about it in this blog post, but here are some of the highlights:
- Pop into McGettigan’s JLT before 5 p.m. on Paddy’s Day (17th March) and enjoy drinks for only AED 17!
- Enjoy a great Irish lunch or dinner at our Cavendish Restaurant and Terrace on Paddy’s Day! Lunch is only AED 175 pp (food only) and dinner is AED 299 pp (food & beverages). Find out more & book your table here.
- Catch Louis Walsh’s newest Irish boy band Hometown live at McGettigan’s JLT on 17th March, followed by one of Ireland’s top rock bands Hermitage Green, who will take to the stage at 10pm.
- As always, there’ll be traditional Irish dancing performances throughout the day. Check the McGettigan’s JLT Facebook page for timings.
- On Friday 18th, don’t miss Hometown in our Authors’ Lounge – the boys, who took time out from their UK tour, will be around from 12 noon for a meet & greet. All ages welcome!
If you fancy a break from all thing Irish, there’s also #VisneBand in Healey’s! Following several packed performances, the boys are back with more blues and classic rock:

Hello March! Here’s what’s going on…
March is one of our favorite months in the year, because of our annual St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza around 17th March. Being Irish owned, we’ve celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in style since we first opened our doors and, from our second year onwards, with our friends from McGettigan’s (who, coincidentally, run their own blog – check it out here).
The McGettigan’s blog is also a good source to find out what’s going on this St. Patrick’s Day, as most of our celebrations will take place in #McGettigansJLT . As always, though, we also have plans for a St. Patrick’s Day dinner in our Cavendish Restaurant and we’ll release the details soon on the restaurant’s Google+ and Facebook pages.

A little while ago, our partners from Lastminute.com came to see us and brought us a nice surprise: A special plaque of appreciation for our dedication and longstanding partnership.
We’re very proud to have had a stellar year with Lastminute.com and would like to say a big “Thank you!” to all our Lastminute.com guests and, of course, our teams who look after them.
If you’re in Dubai this weekend, do join us to congratulate our friends from McGettigan’s JLT on their 5th birthday! Yes, it’s really only been five years that we opened McGettigan’s Pub in our hotel, but what a journey it has been! These days, you can find McGettigan’s in several locations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ireland, Singapore, New York, and – shortly – also in London.
The next three days, though, are all about the JLT pub, where everything started. McGettigan’s has put together a fabulous lineup of offers and events – check them out here.
