Cigar Rolling in Dubai – Experience Cigar Art at Healey’s!

You’ve probably heard that Cuban cigars are world famous, but have you ever seen a Cuban cigar being rolled live in front of you? The art of cigar rolling is something worth experiencing and now you don’t even have to fly to Cuba anymore to grab a freshly rolled Cuban cigar.

On Tuesday, 31st May 2016, our Healey’s Bar (already famous for great shisha in JLT) will host a Cuban cigar rolling demonstration with master cigar roller Mrs. Virginia.

Come to Healey’s between 8 p.m. – 11 p.m., grab a cocktail, beer, or a fine glass of wine, and see Cuban cigars being rolled live & up close. Even better, purchase any cigar from Healey’s extensive cigar selection and you’ll get a freshly rolled Cuban from Mrs. Virginia as a gift. Healey’s Bar Manager, Venkadesh, will be on hand and he just happens to be an expert in pairing fine cigars with great beverages, so ask him for a tip if you don’t know what to order.

Healey’s End of Season Extravaganza!

It’s that time of the year again! Ramadan is looming and Healey’s is preparing for its annual break. Before we’re closing the doors for Ramadan, we’ll have one more party, though!

This year’s Healey’s End of Season Extravaganza will take place on Thursday, 2nd June, from 8 p.m. until late.

As always, we’ll offer an unlimited beverage package for only AED 199 – you can grab yours now in Healey’s or via the hotel reception. You can, of course, also make use of our a la carte menu on the night.

What else is on? We’ll have live entertainment by DJ Nick Coyle, plus, everybody who bought the all inclusive beverage package will be entered into a grand prize draw. We’ll pick the winners at midnight. If you’re lucky, you can win great prizes like iftar vouchers or even a complimentary stay at the Bonnington for 2 including breakfast.

Ramadan Preparations in Dubai

Muslims in Dubai and around the world are preparing for Ramadan, which is scheduled to start around 6th June this year. We’re also getting ready – our iftar menus have been printed and we’re planning this year’s Ramadan decorations.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of fasting for Muslims. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam; the others are confession of faith, five daily prayers, Zakah (almsgiving) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah).

The day of fasting begins with an early morning meal before dawn and ends at sunset. The evening activities include the traditional breaking of the fast usually with dates and water, the sunset prayer followed by dinner (IFTAR). Muslims then usually go to the mosque for congregational prayers in which at least one-thirtieth of the Qur’an is recited. The congregation would have listened to the recitation of the complete Qur’an by the end of the month.

Emarati hospitality and traditions are also very evident during this month as Iftars are hosted across Dubai and residents of different nationalities come together to share the spirit of Ramadan.

Italian Dinners, Irish Celebrations, and Hometown. There’s a mega weekend ahead & it starts now!

After eating great Italian food, let’s celebrate with the Irish! This Thursday will see Dubai’s biggest and best St. Patrick’s Day event kick off at our McGettigan’s JLT. You can find out all about it in this blog post, but here are some of the highlights:

• Pop into McGettigan’s JLT before 5 p.m. on Paddy’s Day (17th March) and enjoy drinks for only AED 17!
• Enjoy a great Irish lunch or dinner at our Cavendish Restaurant and Terrace on Paddy’s Day! Lunch is only AED 175 pp (food only) and dinner is AED 299 pp (food & beverages). Find out more & book your table here.
• Catch Louis Walsh’s newest Irish boy band Hometown live at McGettigan’s JLT on 17th March, followed by one of Ireland’s top rock bands Hermitage Green, who will take to the stage at 10pm.

• On Friday 18th, don’t miss Hometown in our Authors’ Lounge – the boys, who took time out from their UK tour, will be around from 12 noon for a meet & greet. All ages welcome!
